Catch Up Time

When we were growing up, we were glad to start back to school this time of year because our Mother had worn us out putting away produce brought in - either from our own garden, produce we had bought or produce given to us - they pounded the preacher good in those days!!!

The Roving Reporter (Larry) and his lovely wife (Betty) came to Independence to visit his cousin. He was nice enough to bring the Editor (Lily) and her sister some white half runner beans he had found. They put the beans in the freezer and they will taste delicious this winter as well as giving us good memories of the fun we had when we had lunch with Betty and Larry or when we were breaking them up and we were talking about ole times at home.

Bob Stansberry had bought 4 bushels to put away for his family.

Betty was looking good and said she was recovering well after her hand surgery.

Thanks to James for his email updates about Charles Reynolds. We will keep both of them in our prayers.

Lucille Polly called and said Rex has been in and out of the hospital all summer but seems to be doing better now.

Blanche Collins had a birthday a few days ago. It was good for us to know she was celebrating another birthday. We took her off the "passed away" list. She thought it was funny she had made it to that list - not a good one to be on. Sometimes we have to use last names!!

Rosemary has had a slight set-back after her eye surgery. It seems her eye infections have returned.

Billy Joe continues to enjoy his place at Lake Cumberland with his family. He hopes warm weather will continue so he can take his grandson fishing. He and Lily plan to have breakfast together next week. Some of your ears may be burning next week!!!

Hope some more of you will report some good happenings so we don't just report illnesses on this blog. Let Charlene know what you have been doing this summer, any births of grand- or great-grandchildren, any birthdays that need mentioning, any vacations by emailing her at charcollins@insightbb.com.

We continue to keep our classmates in our thoughts and prayers.
